TVline reports that Nick Mavar Jr., a former cast member of Discovery Channel's hit reality series Deadliest Catch, died Thursday afternoon in Naknek, Alaska. He was 38.

The cause of death has not yet been released, but Mavar is reported to have died of natural causes while fishing in Bristol Bay, where he was captaining his own salmon boat.

Mavar first appeared on Deadliest Catch in 2009, and he quickly became a fan favorite for his outgoing personality and fearless approach to fishing. He left the show in 2013 to pursue other opportunities, but he returned for a brief stint in 2017.
